Someone said the "Good doctor" was a good program to know if you were on the spectrum . I wonder what other's think. It seemed to me to going for the socially awkward person with special skills angle . I hesitate to say at the high end of the spectrum.

I've found the episodes I've seen to be completely enjoyable so far. It's an entertaining show that does show some characteristics of autism.

However, please understand, it's also an exaggeration. For instance, the autistic doctor lives in an apartment and a pretty young lady who lives next door comes over and asks, "Can I borrow some batteries?" He provides to batteries to her.

Later on in the show, he goes back to the young ladies apartment and asks for the batteries back because she used the word "borrow" when asking for the batteries. Us autistic people certainly take things literally and have difficulty with social cues etc., but for goodness sakes it's not like we take EVERYTHING literally or can't understand ANY social cues. We have trouble understanding more SUBTLE social situations and cues.

By the way, what I'm basically saying is that the neurotypical people who are writing for a show about an autistic doctor are taking the challenges an autistic person has with social cues and situations FAR TOO LITERALLY. Oh, the irony!

I don't waste my time with Hollywood renditions of autistic characters. I have no interest in it.

Watch Superior Donuts if you want a socially relevant show with some comedy.
