Do you think aspies are more afraid of blood tests and dentist appointments than nts? And why?

Is it because of general anxiety, because it messes up our routines, because of a different perception of pain, or because our minds are so obsessive that when knowing there's a bump in the road ahead, we just can't stop thinking about it while nts can distract themselves?

I've been putting off getting a blood test for a two months, and I'm going to the clinic on Sunday. I feel worried already. From experience, I'm very tense hours before a blood test.

No, I know so many NTs that go on and on about going to the dentist and how they hate it and are scared of it. It's quite normal.

I know some NTs that faint when having a blood test because they can't stand needles going into them or the thought of blood. But blood tests don't bother me.

Smear tests, however, are becoming my worst nightmare. I'd rather the dentist any day.

I'm sure aspies aren't more scared than NTs when it comes to medical appointments itself.
It's just aspies are more likely worried about things other than just the idea of having a needle sticking at them.

As for myself no. :|

Not afraid of the sight of injections, nor that am afraid of having a needle take my blood. Even as a 'surprise', though, it'll just annoy me.

I lack the 'need' for routines or assurance. I don't suffer from any form of anxiety. Sudden pain, at worst would just startle me.
And the last time someone messed up with trying to get my blood, I just got annoyed that it took too long than worried. Anyone else around me was even more worried than I'm when it happened.

I dunno. My sense of fear is screwed to begin with. Not because of lack of awareness ignorance-is-bliss crap, but because aware that said 'danger' could end certainly. Or, that, my curiosity towards whatever the outcome overpowered worry from uncertainty.
I never feared any medical appointments as a child. Not even during my worst years at my teen years. And more so on the now.

I'm not scared of taking the test, but I don't trust the results now. This year, a blood test didn't notice that I had an abcessed tooth, numbed by a root canal. Last year, I had a broken thumb, and if it happened again, I'd do the whole treatment myself, living two blocks from a hospital covered by insurance. I had to travel to two other cities for appointments that did no good at all or lose my insurance, and the travel ruined my other recovery process.

I'm only afraid of blood tests if I didn't study for them first.

I'm both terrified and couldn't care less about blood tests. I couldn't care less about the physical part of taking one, but I am terrified of the result. It's a joke between my mom and me that I should take all blood tests and she take the result!

I dread doctor and dentists and appointments with either, and I avoid them as much as I can (and then some). I am a wuss with pain (and almost everything at the dentist hurts), I dread bad news and I hate not having control.

Caution, snark attack:

Not afraid of my own. Afraid of other people's. Especially if I was thinking about getting involved with them...

Re: Dentists. I've never enjoyed the visits, but now the bigger problem is finding a dentist who is both competent and more interested in helping me chew than selling me the most expensive option available.

I have zero issues with medical appointments besides some anxiety. However I have issues with dentists since I have a low tolerance for certain textures in my mouth, sadly that includes latex gloves and I gag uncontrollably if not vomit. Even a teeth cleaning I have to be put under.

I wouldn't consider myself to have a phobia of needles but I don't like having them put in me, and I can't watch that happening to me or somebody else.

For me, it's just squeamishness, I do have a very low pain tolerance but blood tests don't really hurt.

Oh, smear tests hurt very badly. A sharp pain that is both stabbing and pressure. It's not supposed to hurt, that's what everyone on the internet say. Maybe it's our different perception of pain.

They're a burden and an irritance. Used to love watching the blood course and collect into the syringe though.

I sometimes bit my tongue in response to the sharp jab of the needle and the prickly feeling of it moving through the skewer hole it made in my flesh.

Pain is very subjective. I recently made a deep groove in a finger, and the worst pain is from trying to get it mobile againwith the dressings off.

No its the one thing that I attribute to hyposensitivity, however i have to inject myself everyday anyway, with the exception of the flu jab which they seemingly stick the needle all the way into the bone which has the same effect as touching the funny bone/cartilage.
