Hi,
I am very inhibited in starting ANY activity (with the exception of boats of irritability/anger). Call it being extremely uptight all the time. It's kind of getting worse.
Like I know I need to got and take a shower, but I just simply don't do that, although I'm 110% determined. And it takes like 30 minutes to finally get into the shower. Or I have to go to the toilet and it also takes a rather long time to actually get up and do that.
Of course this is way worse with more serious stuff like going outside or actually doing something useful in the direction of starting a carrier and stuff like that.
Kind of feels like a mild case of catatonia maybe. I mean, it took me 3 days to just sit at the piano and practice a bit. I was 100% determined to do that, but I avoided that all the time.
I was on Zyprexa and Perazine before. I stopped the perazine because I thought it might be the side effect of that. But nothing changed. I'm just taking 10mg zyprexa now, and frankly I don't believe this is in any way related to the antipsychotics.
I'm also very agitated inside and this whole thing has nothing to do with lack of energy or laziness. I'm TOO full of energy. I'm kind of thinking that it's some sort of paralysis caused by extreme agitation inside or something. Like animals getting paralyzed or playing dead in very stressful situations. Which again sounds like freaking catatonia. Screw me.

Any advice what I could do about that? Does anyone feel the same?

Possibly Aspie (diagnosed by an autism expert, doc moves abroad, forced to change docs and all say it's schizophrenia NOS or schizo-affective disorde or personality disorders. initial doc was a colleague of uncle Simon btw. you do the math.). (edit: by Uncle Simon I mean Simon Baron Cohen. Just to clear things up.)

Task initiation is a common type of executive functioning disorder. Executive Functioning issues are common in autistic people.

I suffer from that kind of problem and it's also getting worse. I feel less and less motivated to do the simplest tasks, even the ones that I like. In my case though besides Asperger's I suffer from a depression comorbidity.

Just an idea, if you take the habit to acknowledge the pleasant/good result of every single action you take (even very small) and congratulate yourself for your action?

I am quite of an active person but this helps me a lot to go ahead when I go through busy/though times, or when I feel discouraged or feel overwhelmed.

Cheers :)

This makes perfect sense. I absolutely have no one who would assist me, but this still makes a lot of sense.
BECAUSE: I have no executive functioning problems doing stuff that other tell me to do something for them. I mean, I get pretty p*ssed when I have to do all kind of stuff for others, but that has nothing to do with executive functioning i suppose. Anyways, when someone gives me a task, and doesn't do so in a very condesending way, I have 0 problems doing it, and I can do pretty interesting stuff and I do so (installing sattelite dish on the roof, for example.)
The problem arises when I want to do something for myself, and only then.
