Well I'm not, like, shouting it at whoever will listen or attending aspie pride marches or anything, but if is relevant to bring it up, I'm happy to. I'm just always open and curious about psychological stuff. Understanding the inner workings of individual human beings is meaningful to me.

Proud isn't the word I'd use, really, but I'm not ashamed of it either. I don't know if I actually can hide that there is something going on with me, and for the most part it seems to have helped to be able to give a name to it. For me and the people I interact with.
So open, but not shouting it to the world.

It's on a need to know basis.
Most don't need to know.

No one had to know -- at least explicitly, because I don't have a false personality to hide into and would only restrain whenever I see fit. That's my choice.
Not out of shame nor pride because I feel neither.

Yet there's a side where I'm a known aspie that isn't my choice -- mostly it was my mom's fault -- never trust that side no matter how lenient or fair they seem to treat me. Including those who need to know in basis.
Simply because they have the knowledge of my case before hand and I would've never choose to tell them in the first place. Usually, they're the patronizing kind who would've treat me like a child and expects too much of the wrong things at the same time. :x

One had to gain my trust before I could disclose my case to them.
I had yet to find any able-bodied NT with no communication or health issues in real life to have me voluntarily tell them that I'm an aspie.

I don't advertise or hide it. I do tell people when the situation warrants.

neither hide it nor advertise it.

And its not like being gay. Its not on other folks radar screen to look for, nor would most even understand what it is if you told them.

Same, though I word it that my mind works like an aspie, not that I have a disorder called Asperger's.

On a need to know basis. Family and close friends I think are need to know.

If a conversation was about Autism I would not be hesitant to disclose. I do not go around saying “Hi, please to meet you I am Autistic”

The same as ASPartOfMe but I also include people like my dentist and midwife in the "need to know" category.

I'm fairly open about it, though I try not to be obnoxious about it. The way I see it, unless people know they've interacted with an aspie, it'll fly under their radar and whatever image they have in their mind about what an aspie is will remain unaffected. It's a long range, low-intensity effort to combat myths and stereotypes.
