Hello.

I have always had trouble concentrating in essentially all environments and it has gotten a lot worse recently (and I am guessing it is because of my depression). I am going to talk to my doctor about getting prescribed Ritalin or another stimulant to help me focus/concentrate as it has gotten to an unbearable point.

Has anyone else had any good or bad experiences with Ritalin or other (similar) medications?

Thanks!

In the group I go to, in the UK, people claim the best results are with a combination.

Methlyphenidate stimulant, so Ritalin or similar, and Bupropion, AKA Wellbutin, which is both a stimulant and anti-depressant.

I've been on Methylphenidate IR, SR, CR, Concerta, Dexedrine IR, Vyvanse, Adderall XR, Wellbutrin SR and XL. All of them except for Wellbutrin seriously destroyed my appetite and altered the taste of food so that everything tasted like cardboard. They sent my mood rollercoasting up and down everyday, and all of them made it more difficult to sleep at night.

In terms of treating ADHD, Adderall XR worked the best, my grades went from 60% to 93%, it also helped fix much of my social deficits.

In the end the side effects were unbearable and I stopped all of them.
