So this site seems to have a good list of sensory issues:
http://www.autism.org.uk/sensory

The site says that people who are hyposensitive might chew on everything, including clothing and inedible objects. Growing up, I chewed holes in the collar of most of my shirts, and was constantly putting things in my mouth, especially metal. I also really like touching things to my lips. It's still a struggle to put metal in my mouth, although I haven't chewed holes in clothing for years.

But it also says that people who are hypersensitive tend to only tolerates certain types of clothing or textures. I find wool clothing really annoyingly scratchy and can't wear it, and I also have to cut the tags off of most of my clothes. I also absolutely have to have a shower after a hair cut, because the itchiness is unbearable.

Can people be both hypo and hyper sensitive?

Yes. https://www.spdstar.org/basic/subtypes-of-spd might help. Most of my sensory systems are hypersensitive (like touch), though my body awareness in space is hyposensitive.

Yes, people can have both hyper and hypo senses.

I had a habit of putting things in my mouth a lot when I was a little girl. I was also very sensitive with some clothing. Turtlenecks choked me and certain fabrics gave me a creepy feeling.

I seem to have both. Often the tiniest discomfort, ache or pain makes me wonder if I can tolerate it any longer, and I get the impression I must have some dreadful undiagnosed physical illness. But when I have something worth doing to focus on, I don't notice anything else but the task.

From what I read. I'm definitely hypersensitive. Because sometimes where people touch me. I appositely hate it and can still feel the touch on me for minutes after it happens. I asked other people if that happens to them and they say no. Also when I was little. When I woke up in the morning for school. My clothes were itchy if I put them on right away when I woke up. But that went away when I was 10.

Interesting. Thanks. I'd never heard of "Sensory craving" before. I thought it was always either hyper-sensitivity or hypo-sensitivity.

Based on this, I'm going to say I might a minor degree of touch over-sensitivity, but definitely have a definite touch Sensory Craving. I don't think I have touch hypo-sensitivity.

The site actually says that those with sensory craving "are often thought to have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder", and my parents, when I first mentioned to them the possibility that I might have ASD, told me that they had wondered a few times when I was growing up whether I had ADHD.
