My wife has been to Belgium----but I've never been there.

thank you so much for these kind words! Where has your wife been? In my opinion, it is a very empty country with a shredded sense of self, being part dutch, French, and German, and split up in innumerable localities. It is plagued by insanely corrupt people, but because of the presence of the major EU institutions (which are dictatorial to say the least) and the average high well-being of the "sheeple" (it's whole culture can be summed up with the "Bourgondian" lifestyle as we call it, eating fries, drinking beer and eating pastries, together with watching endless cycling tournaments, i'm not even overreacting) nobody seems to care. There is one city called Bruges which is very historical and beautiful. For the rest there is a bleak future waiting for the Belgians that love sticking they're head in the sand when it comes to migration policies. We house more terrorists than any country and people just go "soccer and beer". They are very weak minded and only care about their houses and lawns. I still have to find one little shimmer of genuine self in the random people i meet here. It is very scary. They also love gossip and pointing fingers at other countries, thinking they have to moral highground, while effectively stealing bits and pieces of cultures around the world. I love France and Portugal, it is where i go to play guitar in the summer.

i see you are from NY, i went there to see Les Paul play guitar...what a musical city! a dream for guitarists

He was very old indeed, a couple years before he passed....but he was a sweetheart and his guitarist Lou Pallo gave me his pick and i drank a beer with him and Skunk Baxter from Steely Dan outside the Iridium /D what a night!

I'm Flemish, but i live at the border near Netherlands so i feel more dutch cause they are much "wilder" and open like i feel i am myself ;D they are a cool bunch!

Do you speak Dutch, too? I think the Dutch of the southern Netherlands is somewhat different than Amsterdam Dutch.

yes kraftiekortie! The only difference is the accent. Amsterdam dutch is the same as that of the south, with dialectic differences. The difference in dialects is astounding all over Belgium and Holland, even though they all speak "dutch". Frisian is very difficult to understand for me, it's like an Alien language to me. I pick up little words here and there, like i do with Afrikaners from South-Africa. Love that u know so much about such a weird little country ;D

Can i ask u if you have Aspergers, or Autism? i'm currently undiagnosed, but will see a "specialist" in June. How has it affected u, have u known for a long time? thank u for your kindness, i'd love to hear more about you

Aspergers is autism and autism is Aspergers.

Aspergers, basically is autism with “normal” intelligence (sometimes above normal) with no speech delay and no developmental delay. There is the notion that Aspergians are relatively strong verbally, and relatively weak in visual learning.

I’m not Aspergian because I had a severe speech delay. I was classically autistic as a young child. I have many Aspergian traits nowadays.

I was diagnosed when I was around 3 years old, back in the 1960s. Many people here are either diagnosed late or self-diagnosed.

I am affected socially, and am rather physically clumsy. I don’t have stereotypical Aspergian “gifts.” You might have some.

I dont have speech delay (i'm quite good with argumenting my case, as that was the reason my parents put me in lawschool). I do think i have certain gifts, but it feels stupid to say that out loud or think about it. To be honest, most people think i'm an idiot (they call me ret*d here) cause i'm socially akward even though i'm pretty sure i can outsmart the most of them. Sometimes i learn a skill i never did out of spite in a real short time to make them go "what??". Especially if its something they are proud of. Fe, my "bully" was known as a great guitarist, and told me i was to stupid. So, and i do this regularly, i just bought a guitar without classes or nothing, and i was playing jazz a year later while he was having trouble with chuck berry licks. This might be bragging, but he deserved it. He stopped playing after all his friends started taking my classes stuff like that, i might consider a "gift"

is it an autism thing to have trouble with your looks? i feel bad Always because of how i look. I cannot connect myself with my mirror image...is that a trait? My sense of self is greatly distorted when it comes to how i look
