in a job situation if you just tell what needs doing. Please don't make me guess. Also if I need certain things or run into problems, be willing to listen and help provide materials as needed so I can teach more effectively. Yes, I'm an instructional assistant. The teacher I report is off on extended holiday so I get the brunt of staff members disappointment in her for not being around.

Your coworkers need to act like adults and do their jobs.

Communicate clearly and effectively.

They do know by now I don't waste time arguing about procedures. I just follow them. No drama. You don't need to explain why and so on.

Yes, I have this problem too. I think I've disappointed people at work quite a few times where we're having a discussion one day, and then the next day I've done something wrong because I didn't "guess" what I was supposed to do as a result of the discussion the previous day.

If they would just come out and tell me what they want me to do rather than expect me to guess, there would be fewer of these situations.

But that would probably be rude. Far more polite to expect me to figure it out, and then be upset when I don't.

Oh for Pete's sake. If you want clarification, ASK FOR IT.

You might could ask for clarification while conspiciously writing it down on a notepad, then later if they complain show them the list you wrote down so you can prove they didn't mention something since it wouldn't be in the list

You know, sometimes guessing is part of the job. They can’t be bothered to tell you clearly what they want, and it’s entirely your responsibility to guess right. If you don’t, well, they’ll find a better guesser.

No guesswork needs to be involved. Yes, I ask clarifying questions and keep a notebook in my pocket.

I can guess with the obvious stuff but not legal issues.
