This is a thought that is playing on my mind.

But do you think that Old Style Living is a bit more friendly towards someone on the Spectrum. I am not talking about people’s attitude but more the closenet community type ‘Old Style Living’ as oppose to Modern Life.

Reason I am asking is because I spent my childhood living in the Channel Islands which is very much a closenet community and moved to England when I was 14. I have noticed my friends who I was at school with who was in the Autistic Provision class seem to get on with there lives successfully and are quite socialble.

I remember when I was living there at times it was naturally easy to fit in in places. It was easier to socialise to the point that when I was told I have issue socially I didn’t fully believe, that I may not like change I didn’t believe it. Then I moved to England and started believing that one.

I find the modern style of living stressful and don’t believe it is a friendly environment compared to a closenet old style living.

What do you think?

I think modern living is more autism friendly because we can do things online. We can order groceries, we can socialize online & we can even go to online colleges. We don't have to see others face to face as much where we'd appear awkward. We can take our time & think about things. We can also get jobs working online where we don't have to do as much face-to-face socializing.

Modern living is amazing because my electronic devices give me a lot of freedom in terms of being able to pick up and go.

Having said that though, I do like challenges and hard work, so I feel like I was born in the wrong time period.

It would depend on the person, If we took away social standards I'd never meet, historical people and events like the black stork and eugenics, the attitudes of the time and perhaps most importantly take away smoking from it, It might be better.

But then again, is something really better when your ignoring the bad?

A close-knit community can be one that considers you family if you choose that location, but that does not guarantee it will be a family that accepts individuality.
