Hi, I'm a 20 year old woman with Asperger's who also has Dyspraxia (obviously). I currently work at a McDonald's as a crew member. My Dyspraxia is being a total nuisance during my shifts. I have a very difficult time putting pies or other bakery items in boxes or bags. They slip out of my hands and I cannot fold the box in order to seal the pastry. I tried my hardest last night but was scoffed at by my morning manager. It destroyed my feelings. I think they view me as intellectually disabled. I'm petrified I'm going to get fired because of my poor motor skills. Any advice?

They can't fire you for having a disability. You could tell them so they know why.

That's great news! I told the night shift manager I had Asperger's and Dyspraxia. She was very understanding. I've been phobic of getting fired due to my sh***y motor skills ever since I joined the workforce. The morning manager can be an a**hole. He watches everything I do with disdain. He doesn't kindly correct me when I do something wrong. I feel like they think there's something really wrong with me. It's kind of depressing.

I think this is one of the times an employer needs to know about a disability. Sticking fragile pies into a little box is not the kind of job for you. Personally I would drop 99 out of every 100 of them. And that would be on a good day. Places like McDonald's hire special needs people, so hopefully they should be willing to work with you. I'm glad it worked out with the night shift manager. Best of luck.
