I want an aspergers diagnosis so I feel like I'm allowed to act like myself. Im not completely sure if I have aspergers though. Whenever people talk about their experiences, and how they feel, I feel like that's the most I've ever related to another person. Sensory issues, word processing issues, being overwhelmed easily by people, being unable to communicate what I'm feeling the "right way", and always having to GUESS what people really mean or how to act around people, it's all been problems for me I just want to fix. Even if it can't be fixed, I'd like a word to be able to explain to others why I'm so bad at being a person. Could anyone tell me their experiences or if I'm just not on the spectrum?

It's not possible to diagnose over the internet, and without knowing you it's impossible to say if you're even likely to be autistic.

BUT rest assured, it's ok to be you ;) I'd strongly encourage you to find a healthcare professional who is sympathetic to you who can advise whether or not autism is part of the answer, because whatever is going on it's good to have accurate answers :)

Do your own research so you can advocate for yourself, and so you can understand the issues involved, and if your healthcare professionals aren't able to provide the support you need, keep searching until you find someone who works well with you.

This forum is an excellent resource for understanding the variety of experiences of those on the spectrum. Welcome :)

You won't get a diagnosis in this forum. But you shouldn't think that a diagnosis counts as an excuse to show an even more awkward social behaviour. Beside of this it sounds to me like you are kind of autistic but don't just have an Asperger Syndrome. :)

Since this is your first post, welcome to Wrong Planet.
As others have said, those on this site are not qualified to give you a diagnosis.
But there are on-line test, that can provide an approximation.
Here is a link to one. AQ Test

You may want to hold off getting a official diagnosis. Once gotten, it would be difficult to un-get in the future.

You should have a solid reason for getting one (i.e. employment, disability, etc.) and solid expectation that it would not represent a hazard in the future.

Here is a free booklet that you might find interesting.

That's what my mother was concerned about. That there's no going back, but I reached a point where I struggle to be able to work full time. I have had full time jobs in the past, but I eventually burn out where I quit them with some excuse just to keep a good record.
I can't see a way how I can support myself if I didn't live with my Mum. Minimum ways 9 to 16 hours a week does not pay bills if I didn't have my Mum. I can't face the benefits office so I don't sign on. As when I take a part time job these days I slowly go downhill, I only take temporary work, so after working I can get time to recover. After a month and a half of working part time, it takes a fair few stress free weeks to get back to where I was (If that makes sense?) I used to be able to do soo much more.
I don't know if what I describe is asperges or not being able to cope with stress like I did when I was younger. I tend to slip into energy robbing partial shutdowns which make everything I do such an effort. Every movement feels like I am trying to work after having run a marathon. Anyway... It is why I need to be assessed. It could be anything. May have nothing to do with autism or asperges. At least being assessed will indicate the most likely cause.

Self discovery of any kind is a journey. Start by taking more than one online test. Google the ones that are in my signature; they're free. If after you take those and score high, you're on the next leg of the journey. Then you can decide what to do. I assume there is an Autism Society near you or in your state?

I agree that you should try to be yourself regardless, as long as being yourself doesn't include behavior that's harmful to you or to others.

Or, just hang out here if it helps you. No one needs a diagnosis to be here. All are welcome.

If you suspect you're autistic, it's ok to refer to yourself as "self-diagnosed"; just don't refer to yourself as autistic unless you're diagnosed.

Welcome!

Welcome to WP!

I'd be careful about getting a diagnosis as an adult. It could open a can of worms you won't want to open. It could be worthwhile to get help for your other issues: sensory, processing and social anxiety.

Fiddler on the Porch,

I like your user name. Are you Russian or Ukrainian descent?
