Something I have noticed in myself and that is I don’t like routine if there is no structure to it but I do if there is structure does that make any sense? I would rather follow a timetable than do things on my own terms.

I have a routine, as in do the same things everyday. But it's haphazard. I'd like to get more structured.

I like structure and having something to do and places to go. A routine without structure is simply a rut.

I like both. When I get up in the morning, I follow the same routine and it is very structured. Because it is structured it is very time efficient. For example I alway shave before I eat breakfast (routine) and when I make breakfast I follow a structure of around 30 steps to make breakfast. Such as put the english muffin in the toaster, get the butter out of the refrigerator, put a little water in the skillet and add a breakfast sausage to boil the sausage until the water boils away and the breakfast sausage then begins to brown. I take the salt and pepper shaker out of the cabinet to be ready when I make the egg. I pull the plate from the cabinet and a cup. I fill the cup with water and place it into the microwave to boil for my tea. I take the toasted muffin from the toaster and butter it. The sausage is done, so I place it on the plate. I add some more butter to the skillet and then break open the egg and cook it. I place the egg shells in a small pail under the sink. (My wife will later grind up the eggshells to put in the garden to control insects.) I add salt and pepper to the egg. The structure allows me to accomplish several different tasks at the same time (making a toasted muffin, making a egg, making tea, cooking a breakfast sausage). It is the way I multitask in a time efficient manner. Without the structure I land up with a cold muffin, burns eggs and sausage.

I honestly don't like either. I prefer to do what I wanna do when I wanna do it.

I hate structures and routines that are boring/things I hate/don't wanna do. And most structures are

What is the difference between routine and structure?

but, yes, i guess i enjoy "both". I enjoy having free days where I can choose what I do. I am very good at motivating myself to pursue my hobbies, which is what I would do most of my time given the chance.

I am the king of routine. I work the early shift six days a week. Even on my day off I maintain my 8-345 sleep schedule. On work days, my morning routine is down to the minute without even looking at the clock. I'm in the shower at 409, out the door at 428, rolling into work at 446.

On my day off, I have structure as well. I hit the laundromat at their 5am open time, usually arriving at 446. I hit the grocery store at 645, when it's nice and empty, visit my mother and grandmother, then head home before traffic picks up.

When my routine is disrupted I get anxiety. Therefore, I do not disrupt my routine. I haven't taken a vacation since 2012, I've had one three day weekend, and two two day weekends in the last three years.

I love structure and routine in my day. Makes it so I can get the most out of my day. When I feel like adjusting it, I can though. It is not that strict, like with some people.

No routines for me. I'd get bored. I'd hate strict routine. And I would rather learn how to manage flexible schedules.

Structure makes things easier for me, but I'd prefer my own terms. Even if said terms happened to be chosen repeatedly. I want wider selection of choices and learn to prioritize.
