I understand completely. It's painful to recount things you are not proud of. The remedy to this would be to stick with the same psychiatrist.

^ I never had the privilege to stick with the same psychiatrist, even if I wanted to. They'd always leave to work somewhere else after a few months, probably the states or a major city in Canada where there's more money, and then I have to see a new one whether I want to or not. Except now, where I see no shrink at all. There aren't any in my area that I *can* see, and there hasn't been for about a couple of years now.

That's probably for the better, anyway. I still have a family doctor that I can still get my medication from. All psychiatrists do is make sure you're still taking the drugs, and then you're back out in the hallway and don't see them for another three or four months. But I feel bad for people with severe mental illness or even suicidal who can't see anyone. It's like, better hope you don't become mentally ill... or else! :x

Sometimes you can sign a consent form for the previous counselor to release progress notes to the current counselor

:skull:

But there is no guarantee that the  progress notes are factually accurate

 there is no such thing as a "mistake" in counseling. just "miscommunications"

I have only seen a psychiatrist twice in my life. once in high school and he wasn't very nice and another time when i thought i was depressed but the shrink told me that i was just sad and dismissed me.
I was referred to one once but i didn't know why and i didn't go.

I've never had a regular doctor, i just go to walk in clinics when i'm sick.
When i was a kid there weren't any clinics, the doctor came to your house with their little black bags when you were sick with the measles or something.
It all seems kind of foreign to me.

I have this with doctors and that's bad enough, psychiatrists would be worse.

I have met with 15 psychiatrists on one or more occassions so I know how that is. It takes me about 45 mins of talking nonstop and at a quick pace to get through a condensed medical history.

Why not just write it out, maybe in a pamphlet form, and just change it up as needed?
