This is likely a broad question, but right now my goal is to become an art therapist. I also want to adopt kids with disabilities (Of any kind or any extent, including things like severe RAD).

I realized almost every goal I have, it is necessary for me to become a very patient person. For my own happiness in the moment, I also need to become more patient with myself, especially seeing as I have to take an extra year of high school.

While this skill has improved significantly over the last few years, I know well it does need to increase more.

Find things that test your patience, then endure them willingly.

I think patience levels go up and down with mood and stress.
I'd be hopeless with kids because things stress me out so easily and then I get impatient and snap at people, but if you are able to keep your stress levels low, you might be OK. And it might get easier as you settle into the role.

If you regularly do a meditation that includes focus on your breathing, during the day a single deep breath can restore calm.

Logic. If I can switch to logic mode and assess a person's behavior and think of reasons they may be acting that way, I have unlimited patience. If I let myself feed of emotion, it's over. I also do much better with a lot of sleep and not somewhere I'll get overstimulated from sensory things.

Medication that can help with stress like beta-blockers & in some cases benzodiazepines & some other meds can help some people mange stress better which can help with patience. I would only see a doc about this if there are other issues/problems going on besides being impatient like lots of anger problems, lots of headaches, feeling like breaking down a lot, panic/anxiety problems, lots of crying spells ect.
