Red, bloodshot eyes... Autism related?

My eyes have not been white and clear for a very long time, probably close to 20 years at this point (I'm 30). I wore contacts for a long time, and my eyes definitely didn't like them, but that wasn't the sole problem. For whatever reason, my eyes were just always a little bloodshot no matter what I did. I got rid of contacts a few years ago and got LASIK last year. However, despite this, my eyes seem to be getting even more red and irritated.

A few years ago I started having a variety of health issues, mostly diet-related, and realized on my own I was allergic or sensitive to gluten and dairy, and my symptoms went away once I cut those out. I have read that bloodshot eyes can be the result of IBS and/or food allergies, so I'm wondering if maybe I'm allergic to something else too but don't know it. I've tried literally every first line of treatment for my eyes (lubrication drops, heat compresses, anti-histamines, supplements, etc), and nothing helps really at all. Because food allergies are often related to autism, I thought maybe people here had some idea as to what could be going on or if this is an autism thing at all. The doctors I went to didn't seem to have any explanation.

I doubt it has anything to do with autism

While I wouldn't think the red, bloodshot eyes are likely autism related, I do think that people with ASD are somewhat more likely to have allergies than those without, and the red, bloodshot eyes are very likely related to allergies.

Just may be possible--my eyes have been slightly bloodshot since my early 20s. I have always thought I got them because of all the alcohol I consumed at the time. :shaking2:

Mine are blood shot too, but I keep rubbing them. At least I close them before I rub them. But that is almost certainly why they are the way they are.

Is that a thing with autistics? I don’t know...
