I've just been diagnosed. My family helped me with and through the diagnosis and are being really supportive during such a difficult time, although it didn't come as much of a shock to anyone as I've always been different which is why I was tested for it.

I don't have a problem with AS, it makes me who I am and I don't intend to let it slow me down. I have a lot going on and don't have time to get depressed, been there done that and it cost me a lot of my life, time I'll never get back.

I want to understand things better like AS and myself, which is why I'm here. I don't understand much of it.

Congrats. I know a lot of other females tend to go undiagnosed for longer periods of time as well. I'm 16 and my dad has been trying to get me an evaluation. I hope this diagnosis makes your life easier and that you can understand yourself a bit better.

It's great that you got a diagnosis honestly. The more you learn about it, the more you can do it help manage it. Do you know much about sensory problems? Because in my opinion, they're a far bigger issue than social problems. Also, I was in the same position as you about 4 months ago.

Welcome to Wrong Planet.

I knew I was always different, but didn't find out I was aspie until about a year ago. You've got a great head start on a terrific life.

Natasha, Welcome to Wrong Planet. Some Aspies evolve to become Nonconformist. The following are some quotes from nonconformist:

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. – Rob Siltanen: Apple, "Think Different" campaign

It gives me great pleasure indeed to see the stubbornness of an incorrigible nonconformist warmly acclaimed. - Albert Einstein

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. - Mark Twain

Our wretched species is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road. - Voltaire

Not all those who wander are lost. - J.R.R. Tolkien

You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life. - Winston Churchill

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
