One of my stims it to lightly tap my head against the wall - not hard enough to hurt myself, just a gentle tap.

The scary part, though, is that, particularly when feeling particularly stressed, I find myself thinking just how good it would feel to hit hit my head just a bit harder. I haven't really given in to this temptation - maybe just enough to convince myself that it, in fact, doesn't feel so good.

I've never hurt myself with it, but it's kind of scary to even be aware that I'm thinking it would feel good.

Do other people find similar things?

Yeah, I enjoy it. As a kid I'd do that in the car, if we were stuck in traffic. But I made myself stop because I knew I'd get yelled at, or break the window, or hurt myself. I will find myself doing it (or wanting to) if sitting by a wall, too.

Now, I mostly do this on the couch. Then I don't have to worry :)

I tap the sides of my head either with my palms or fingers repeatedly, or, alternatively, repeatedly slap my hands against my ears (gently). I usually do the ear one in situations of over stimulation because it makes everything sound funny and makes a nice whoosh suction-ey noise from the air being pressed into your ears.

What you describe, though, I typically do on chairs and couches or beds, because I like when my head bounces back. The only hard surfaces I'll do it on are wood floors or the occasional car window. The texture of a wall rubbing against my hair is very unpleasant to me

Yeah...I do that.

It's more like "banging," though----but, again, not enough to really hurt myself.

A "controlled banging," so to speak.

Hitting my head against a bed is really nice - you can get away with doing that really hard! I usually do it before bed every day :)

Another thing I usually find I do when going to bed is spend about 10 seconds with the top of my head against the bed. Not really a head stand, because I'm still balancing using my knees, but my head is completely upside down.

I don't do that. It hurts too much when I hit my head on something unintentionally, so I wouldn't think of it as a good thing to do on purpose.

Have you ever done it when you've had something super sour??? (E.g. Toxic waste brand of sour sweets)

Not that I'm aware of.
