1)...The Question?

What tactics do you use to collect things?

2)...Statements by Ghosthunter!

These are the methods I use to collect things!

If it is comics:

• by a year cycle
(1940-49)
(1950-59)
(1960-69)
(1970-05')

• by publisher and title
Kid Colt as a example!
by Marvel ©48'
by Atlas ©50'
by Marvel ©57'-77'

• by cover price
by 10¢ covers 1940-61
by 12¢ covers 1962-1969
by 15¢ covers 1969-1971
by 20¢ covers 1971-1974
by 25¢ covers 1974-1975
by 30¢ covers 1975-1977
by 35¢ covers 1977-1978
by 40¢ covers 1979-1980
by 50¢ covers 1981-1982
by 60¢ covers 1982-1985?
by 65¢ covers 1985?-1987?
by 75¢ covers 1987-1989
by $100 covers 1989?-1992?
Ect.....!

•by how I find them?
Flea market level
($1-$5) each 10¢ covers to 12¢ covers
($10) Mystery boxes! (usually 30-50 in a box)
By a professional store!
By a Reputable store!

•by Grading system tactics
CVC'ing grade
Individualized grading

I collect music CDs by seeing if a title is available used and I can buy it cheaper than the $18 extortion rate most music stores charge. I listen to sample tracks or the whole album first to make sure the majority of the songs are good. I've had too many instances in which I bought an album with two good songs and 12 crappy ones. My best buys are at pawn shops that sell them for as little as a dollar.

Beanie Babies, I get from Hallmark card shops or whenever I'm traveling. I have just about every animal represented so I'm now concentrating on the teddy bears which are more sought after.

There are alot of used CD shops in San Francisco
and Sunnyvale. $8.99 is about average price and
that includes major artists. Some have listening
stations, others don't. What about your area?

Some people collect keychains, mugs, I pickup

keepsakes of travel!

What are the best and worst teddy bears,
beanie babies in your collection?

We used to have plenty of music stores to chose from. Unfortunately, three went out of business and Wherehouse Music changed owners twice hence cutting their used CD inventory 75%.
Cat's Music has a few used but not many good ones.

Tower Records and Pop Tunes don't sell used CDs at all and only have select albums you can sample. I now go online to listen to music samples or buy an album not on store shelves. Then, there's always Walmart and Target.....

My favorite teddy bears are "I Love NY", because I lived in New York for a month and miss it so much, then "Peace", who's tie dyed with a peace symbol on his chest, "Erin", a St. Patricks bear I actually camped outside the store for with about 50 other people. And "Corsage", which has this purple flower print.

I really don't have a worst beanie. I like every one of them, especially my patriotic beanie collection. The bears have the stars and stripes, I have one who's proceeds went to 9/11 victims and they're all sitting on a shelf in my bathroom, giving it an Americana theme.

Ludwig Wittgenstein is a philosopher of science... he talks about how language does not necessarily point in any logical direction...

Very nice stuff...

Usually by topic of interest.

I am obsessed with dice, and fall in love with alot of things to do with dice, like soft dice, dice jerseys and dice key rings. Same goes with grapes.

But it has to look good to me.. I have an obsession with grapes and some grapes merchandice don't really appeal to me.

I also love small things, so I suppose I collect due to size also. I guess colour and texture and overall appearance, too.

usually by author/artist(Jane Austen, Amy Grant) sometimes by color(purple), sometimes by topic(movies, books), always by what I like. I like to organize my obsessions chronologically as well....usually by order of publication.

Can you explain these varying interests?
What did you accumulate from searching
out these collecting interest?
