One of my friends is looking into getting a service dog, I have one but the place I got him actually specializes in military families and vets So I want her to look at other places first.

Most organizations seem to focus on more severely autistic children, not older teens that while definitely disabled will be able to live on own at some point. Any suggestions?

I know somebody with a service dog.

She is diagnosed autistic----but she is not intellectually disabled.

More and more stores are "welcoming" service dogs.

Walmart has a sign now welcoming them.

In northern Pennsylvania. I'm not sure of the exact location.

I got mine from a place called Paws 4 Autism. Only place I could find that didn't exclusively provide dogs for children or people with other disability/disabilities along with autism. Unfortunately, I think they're a pretty local place (Kansas City area) - I don't think there are any other locations for them.

I know someone else who has a service dog, but I think that's more for her epilepsy than her autism. Not sure where she got him from.

I'll probably show it to her at least;
It says "Currently we focus on the Kansas City Region. However, applications for individual autism or PTSD service dogs are welcome from throughout the United States"
So that's still helpful thanks.

I thought this video presented some good info on service dogs:

There's a link to the service he used in the video description.

I watch him, but unfortunately that isn't an option for her because;
"Live within a 4-hour driving radius of Grantville, PA and have the ability to travel to our facility a minimum of 3 times."
Is a requirement.

try Susquehanna Service Dogs. They are really excellent. They do Autism service dogs.

I suggested it to her but not sure Colorado is close enough

That would be a bit of a commute. But have her call them anyway and see if they know a company that they can recommend in the Colorado area. Often times they are familiar with each other and she wants to make sure that she gets a dog from a good company that will stand by their dogs.
