What's Tumblr Like?

I'm thinking about registering for a Tumblr account. I know it has a bad reputation because of SJWs, but I assume that there are other kinds of people there.

What I'm worried about is finding people my own age. Does it seem like almost everyone on tumblr is quite young? I just want to talk to some open-minded and possibly neurodivergent adults.

I'm on tumblr.
I've never talked to anyone on there, besides commenting on a few posts, didn't even know that possibility existed.

Tumblr is mostly teen and early 20s girls from my experience, there are ofc outliers but the main demographic is 14-22 yold girls and women

Yeah that's what I figured.

I only ever used it for porn and I am sure that is the case for most of their users. Since they banned porn a few weeks ago, I don't think I will ever use Tumblr again lol.

The place works well for me, but I only use it to post and talk about my special interests, in this case certain shows. If that's what you want to use it for then you should, but I don't know what it'd be like to use it for something else... but you should try, if it doesn't work out you can just stop using the site.

You could also use Word Press. It is a decent site with lots of templates. I used that over Tumblr, and I am old! I used it mainly for posting activities and news from when I was up in the High Arctic. Kept everyone up-to-date on life by the North Pole.

I have read a number of times on Wrong Planet the place the site has a lot of Social Justice Warriors and Aspie supremacist members.

I don't know about that. I used Word Press for my purposes & that's it. I rarely go there looking for anything. It all depends on what you want to use it for, I suppose. I am so NOT social online. I do have a Twitter & Instagram account. But no FaceBook!

One can get an account at Wordpress & put up just about anything they want.

I've never looked at Tumblr to see what it was about.

From what I can tell; porn and narcissism. And they recently banned the porn.

There are a lot of amazing artists on tumblr, and if memes/obscure humor is something you enjoy you might like it. However the site overall is a s*** show. I would recommend it mostly for occasional usage.


But a bonus, there's a huge neurodiverse-positive community on tumblr. You may have to navigate around the SJW's, though. There are a lot in the tumblr autistic community, but there are also some genuinely nice people.
