I really need to know your experiences of wearing wigs and hats. Do you find them too sensitive or overwhelming?

X

I wear a lot of hats, it's the only part of what I wear I have much control over. I like tight fitting hats that give pressure and it helps with light as well.

I like to wear hats to keep my face out of the sun when I'm outside.

Hopefully I won't find wearing hats too overwhelming then. Right now I have long black hair and don't wear hats but soon that will change. Do you think it would be worth buying a couple of hats to give a try?

Wearing a hat is a lot easier for me than wearing sunscreen on my face.

I usually only wear winter hats or baseball-style caps. My hair is naturally thick, so hats can overheat it and my hair gets all sweaty and gross.

I understand that. I find the texture of sunscreen on my skin really uncomfortable.

That's unfortunate! I'm not sure if you're the same but I am really hot and over heat in just a t shirt  .

I get too hot with a hat. I am very sensitive to heat, and will wear a T-shirt and shorts even in the winter.

I never liked wearing hats but I had to start 6 years ago when I moved to Vermont due to male-pattern baldness. I'd get sunburt in the summer if I didn't. I also had to start wearing winter hats in the winter cuz of how cold it gets. The hats do make me itch but I mostly itch where I'm losing my hair & I don't itch much there when I'm not wearing hats. I would see about a hair transplant if I had the money.

I have problems with tight hats and wigs and simply can't wear... wig socks? I'm not sure if that's the actual term in English, but I'm talking about the thing you put on your head first to put your hair under it and then put a wig on. Then again, I think that in my case this is all because of the nerve damage in my head and not autism.

Hats are amazing! I wear a hat most of the time when I am outside. In the winter I'll wear one to keep my head at a comfortable temperature.

In the summer, I'll wear a hat for one of three reasons. Ether it's sunny, it's raining, or it's buggy. For some reason one of those three conditions tends to be true most of the time during the summer, so if I'm outside between April and October, I'll likely be wearing a Tilley hat.

I like baseball caps and such when Im outside exercising or at a horse show. Helps keep the sun off your face and also hides the terrible helmet hair I get after a day of showing lol
For fashion tho....Im always nervous they're gonna fall off lmao They're cute tho

I've been wearing the same Tilley hat for at least 20 years!

Can’t wear ANYTHING on my head...period. My mom would force me to wear hats in the winter and then punish me for meltdowns. I had a traumatic eeg as a kid and I think that’s what triggered my aversion to hats or anything on my head.

I never liked wigs. I have worn a few for Halloween. They are scratchy and poke at my head. Hats are fine though but Winter hats have made my head itchy but not regular hats.
