Loosing your tolerance to certain stimuli
I am starting to notice a pattern that when I'm not feeling well or my bipolar acts up, etc... My tolerance for certain things goes out the window, sensory wise. Like some examples include my husband's lamp, it has no shade and sometimes I cannot tolerate the light. Another one is the fan, my husband likes to have it blowing on him nonstop but sometimes especially if I don't feel good I cannot tolerate it anymore. Another one is my hearing, if I do not feel good l can get overwhelmed. Oh, and touch.... The other night I was not feeling good and the lamp was on and the fan was blowing on me and the TV was loud then my husband touched my arm and then I had a meltdown... ![]()
I never really considered myself to have sensory issues but is that what this is?

I dunno the right term or how exactly works, but yes that does happen.
I have no major sensory issues myself, and more like my threshold loses when I'm not feeling well or very exhausted -- meaning more vulnerable.
Therefore needing 'more' tolerance towards anything -- having the illusion of being more sensitive, perceiving/receiving stimuli more intense than usual. Inputs are more chaotic, confusing, faster, painful, and energy draining.
Right at this moment, I'm literally experiencing it.
So far, I have more than enough tolerance to not have a meltdown or a shutdown during the entire times I'm exposed to constant and (as I perceive) intense stimuli.
Heck right now I'm having a headache and tonsillitis like symptoms. Might be adenoiditis instead, because it's not my throat that hurt nor had issues swallowing, but the back of my nose or wherever I'm feeling the air through the nose -- the very one I'm at risk having everytime I go to sleep. Still, I have a mild fever since last night, and I know it'll always pass like usual.
The TV on 10 volume downstairs is loud, I keep hearing other peoples voices and major movements, couldn't look at the screen longer than a minute without feeling a stab like pain on the eyes, everything room is too cold and too hot, the wind makes my skin feel rather raw same can be said whenever I breathe.
And as far as I know, I had worse.
