How many math/science geeks do you think are Aspies and vice versa? I think most geeks/nerds are Aspies, but not necessarily the other way around, because Aspies have all sorts of interests.

I hate math. Math is a tool of demons.
Math is inherently evil.

But I feel most of us could be seen as some kind of geek or nerd. Not a bad thing.

Plenty of NTs are as well.

You don't need to be into math to be a geek. Math is my kryptonite. In Grade 3 all my teacher had to do was show me a paper full of long division and fractions and I'd turn into a sobbing, quivering blob of jelly.

Yes, I know math is a necessary evil, but dyslexic people might say the same thing about reading and writing, and I loved to read and write as a kid. I learned a lot of scientific, geeky stuff from reading.

Define geek.

People can be geeky over a vast number of subjects, it doesn't just have to be Math and science. Since we tend to have special interests/obsessions I would say that most of us are geeks.

I also have to agree with the other ladies here, I really do not like math.

Isn't the concept of 'geek' characterised to a significant extent by the intensity of the interest (regardless of what it is)? For example, being interested in the NFL isn't geeky in itself, but having an encyclopedic knowledge of its statistics, players, history etc is.

I am very geeky lol. I love anything science especially and I'm a fan of random things like Sonic, Pokemon and even Star Trek...

I was really good at math in high school but for some reason I sucked at calculus.

I am not very good at storing logical information, plus I'm no good at hyperfocus, so I'd say I'm not a geek at all.

My dad, neurotypical football fan and extreme team supporter, must be a football nerd then.

Extreme geek/nerd would accurately describe me. I was always good at science, math and history topics. I tend to absorb scientific/historical facts with little effort and that skill annoyed my classmates to no end, as they usually had to study hard in those areas to pass a class.

Mathematics is a subject I find fascinating, but, alas, I cannot transcribe numbers half as accurately as would be necessary to become really good at it.

In my mind, geek usually means something to do with a technological field. Yes, I can fix most problems with Windows and related programs, write some HTML5 and VB.Net when it's necessary, but it's not my greatest interest. So by that definition, I wouldn't consider myself a geek.

I started programming when I was a kid, earned a Master's degree in computer science, double-majored with math, and am into anime and videogames... Yep. I'm a geek/nerd (to me, the video games and anime are "geek" and the CS/Math stuff is "nerd" but I'm not 100% certain as to the correct definitions of the terms). Though even debating the definition of geek/nerd is probably in a way nerdy...

I'm a science geek Aspie. It's one of those special interests that picked me. I have always had a lifelong fascination with anatomy/physiology.
