" Now And Forever " by Carole King
" The Passenger " by Iggy Pop
" No Time At All ' from the musical "Pippin " originally sung by Irene Ryan
These three songs seem to say a bit out about being Asperger's, the first two especially...not entirely cheerfully either, :(at least, especially for me, now, at this stage in my life ) I will presume that someone else can link the songs, you know my limitations :( .

...The Iggy song is sort of from the viewpoint of someone who's an observer who walks along observing things but is outside of them. The - Iggy - protago ist eventually come along and join her m but that's sort of not in the he cards for someone who's an Aspie :( . " Difficulty with social codes " - remember  ???

Psycho Killer is what happens when Aspie-ness meets Sociopathy.

It doesnt mean that Aspies are Sociopaths.

It’s a warning for Aspies not to let their despair force them to adopt sociopathic mores.

Quote:
Did you talk about writing with David Bowie?[/]

[b]Iggy
Yeah. The Passenger was partly written about the fact I’d been riding around North America and Europe in David’s car ad infinitum. I didn’t have a driver’s licence or a vehicle.

Josh It’s such a night-time song. If you’ve ever been in a foreign city as a night-time participant you understand that song.

I like the cover by Siouxsie and the Banshees even better then the original

Iggy thinks so also
Quote:
"That's good. She sings it well and she threw a little note in when she sings it, that I wish I had thought of, it's kind of improved it [...]. The horn thing is good."

I guess being in a foreign country has similarities to being on the “wrong planet”.

...The Carole King so g is sort of " looking back with fondbess on something that is in the past, a big special thing that is gone now " I kind of has a connotation of " Classic Baby Boomers looking back at their special days " that turns me off, sort of left out of that, a little - But it was a theme for a movie about an all-female baseball team during World Was II. On a sense, my life never quite " happened " . It never quite " took off " :| . Maybe that'sy fat, maybe less so - I'm pretty old and crippled now :( ,

Also, interesting tidbit ... my trauma psychologist knows Carole King. They went to high school together in Brooklyn!

Likewise Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond!

I thought that might cheer you up!

:P

Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand were good friends and on the same freshman choir.

Carole King went the same Brooklyn high school as my parents. All three went a different times. Martin Landau was a classmate of my dad. RBG, Bernie Sanders, Chuck Schumer, Andrew Dice Clay are among the many notable alum.

The Carole King song doesn't seem even remotely aspie to me (except in the general way that anyone can relate to it, but there is nothing specific to the aspie experience about it).

The Iggy pop one is might be taken as aspie related- the narrator seems to be a perpetual outsider.

The Pippin song. I dunno.

Interesting! Well my psych knows her, regardless. I thought she was in the Erasmus club.

Erasmus was a substantial philosopher and teacher in the late 15th-early 16th century.

The high school in Brooklyn was a great place of learning until maybe the late 1960s-early 1970s. The building housing it is considered an architectural landmark worthy of perpetual preservation.
