Finding a specialist for autism is a struggle, but perhaps you will have better luck if you look for a therapist to help with your individual struggles, say trauma, anxiety, depression, etc. Many therapies can be successful without the therapist knowing anything about autism, and you may find somebody who is willing to learn and anxious to know more about autism.
Maybe it will be those therapists that are new in practices and who may be more open minded and not as set in their ways.
I got therapy for depression long before I knew about my autism. Saved my life and my sanity!
I learned new behavior and got new tools to use for every day living (how to say no, how to set boundaries, healthy communication of my needs, how to understand I had been abused and how to know if somebody was abusing me etc etc)
I still had to try several therapists before I found one who I could understand and who could work with me.
It is not going to be easy, but perhaps instead of asking for therapy about autism, ask for a therapist who will work with you on your specific struggle, and then explain about your autism??? keep us posted!
