Reasons to give up my paracosm
1 I'm now in a place where it's ok to be me

2 It's sapping time and energy

3 I could spend that time and energy on other projects like my writing or on going out to places

Reasons not to give up my paracosm
1 It still feels real and I'm sad to kill off all the people in it

2 It inspires me to do art and writing

3 It sustained me when I was ill

4 It's a better obsession than an unhealthy one would be

5 It's something I can do alone on a day when it's flooded

6 I've set it up in such a way that either or doesn't work. Either this place ceases to exist or it is kept alive by me, every day

7 Mum asks me about it and she doesn't generally care about my life because my life lacks people. She spends like 5 minutes talking about me then it's back to her again. If I make up people then she'll talk to me for longer because she likes talking about people.

Paracosm is like maladaptive daydreaming.

I don't think it has to be an either/or situation. I often use mine as a place to work and think...and rest and play. I don't think there's anything wrong with that as long as the stuff that needs to get done is getting done.

Write it all down and make a story out of it.

How do you think C.S.Lewis, J.K.Rowling, and J.R.R.Tolkein got started?
