A question about the ADOS

Is it only used if they're unsure you have ASD?

No it's a diagnostic interview to find out if someone has ASD.

I am wondering why some have to do the ADOS after their assessments , and some don't . Hence my question. I would have thought if they were definitely sure either way I would have been told without need for the ADOS.

For me, the ADOS was simply part of the overall assessment. I would have assumed everyone had to take it (or something like it).

I started out so young with all the testing and evaluating they've done I don't know or forget what most of it is called. Reading the description of ADOS I have experienced such methods of evaluation many times. Mainly I suppose to see where I fit in regarding my special education and occupational therapy etc since as I was getting older I was developing towards moderate autism. To me it was all just "lab rat" time.
