Do some of you cope by living a very 'simple' lifestyle ? A lifestyle that is very basic compared to most people.

Can you be more specific, fire monkey? Simple is relative, and some of us may provide fairly different versions of a simple lifestyle.

I would've in a material sense.
The frugal kind of simple, but not less complex kinds of life agenda.

Less clutter, less trouble, less 'maintenances', less needs for myself, sure. But people sharing spaces with me are not making things 'simple', and there's just not enough lock boxes for me to keep stuff for myself.
Wanted an adventure of sorts outside home where I get to travel alone and meet some people without much of a fuss. But people sharing spaces with me are too worried and wouldn't let me be unless I kept things in secret.

Well for me most days consist of - get up, get dressed, go on computer, lunch, more computer time , watch tv , bath or shower, sleep . As you can see, very simple

Mondays and Fridays = do washing .
Sunday or Monday = tends to be main grocery shopping .

Non complex. Your brain not having to go into a higher gear .

My life was most manageable when I bought a motorhome, sold my house, and went travelling for 2½ years. Living in a very small space, where everything had to be kept organised, and things needed to be put away safely before I could drive off, made life so much better. I could only have the things with me that I really needed, or had a current use for, and everything else was in storage unit that I visited occasionally to swap things around. Unfortunately it didn't last, and life is now far from simple!

My lifestyle is really pretty simple. Even my jobs are pretty simple.

As long as you’re not bored, then there’s nothing wrong with that.

If others are bored, that’s their problem.

My own life seems very simple to most people. It is perhaps a life that would be ordinary in 1920 but seems deadly dull today.

But I like it.

I am simple in a way as the opener describes it but I don't see it so much as a way of coping, rather my mind has a strong tendency towards routines and on the other hand I find enough pleasure from those simple daily things.

By that definition I have a simple lifestyle, and that's because I like it that way.
A busier lifestyle just wears me out and isn't enjoyable to me. I know some people think I'm boring because of that, but that's not really my problem.

I like to have a laid back life and be engaged in my interests.

Yes, when left to my own devices I make my life very simple, just acquiring food, consuming it, "messing about" on a computer or with whatever special projects I feel up to doing, a bit of exercise, straightforward routines with very little deviation from whatever I'm used to. I wouldn't normally take on more than one thing that requires breaking new ground or other complexity per day. I seem to design my lifestyle so as not to have to think much - I do think a great deal, and I think about fairly complex things, but mostly about things I don't really have to think about, and I can only think clearly if I'm not feeling rushed, I'm a very slow and careful thinker.

The worst thing is when I have to fit in with other people's plans, which seem to be terribly messy and subject to constant change, they need very quick readjustments and I don't know how they work through it all without getting seriously stressed out and having to give up. If a thing is well-ordered, methodically arranged, and fixed, then to me it's simple even if it contains a lot of elements. I guess that explains why I can fathom a lot of technical subjects that a lot of people can't grasp even though I can't fathom their ordinary mundane procedures.

Most definitely simple for 2019. I don't have home internet, any tablet/smartphone, a PC (or Mac), or any video game consoles. I don't really enjoy dating, video games, or NT social media, and I don't go to the movies often as there is rarely anything new advertised that appeals to me. I enjoy rereleases of older movies, opera, theatre, karaoke, and concerts. I HATE smartphones. Touch screen interface is something I could just never get used to. For now, I use a clamshell flip phone with internet data for checking e-mail, reading news, checking weather forecasts, and this forum. I do plan on getting a home PC and internet again in the future, but for now I mostly just watch sitcoms, documentaries, and sports on TV. I read a bit, listen to music, and write, draw, or color in coloring books sometimes. I talk to friends often (though most live out of the area, so by phone). Every blue moon, I make a cocktail from my home liquor cabinet, go out to eat, see live music, or go sightseeing. When the weather isn't hot, I do lots of urban, park, and trail hiking with my dog. I cook, have coffee, and take care of my plants and pets (cats, beta fish, and cockatiel bird too).... all whenever I'm not working, of course. Most people my age and younger are baffled that I'm not into internet culture and gaming. One reason I don't have many local friends, probably. I wish I had more close friends to hang out with (in real life) who shared my interests, and maybe to travel more, otherwise I am very content with my life as it is.

I have to keep things pretty simple for my sanity.
I mean that literally, because I've been suffering from some kind of episodic anxiety/stress disorder, which means I have to keep things low key and avoid stuff that upsets me.
So at the weekend I have certain activities and chores I do at certain times, this is to make sure I get everything done (enough housework that we have food to eat and clothes to wear and are not living with cockroaches). I schedule in exercise as well, because of the health benefits. And in between I just veg out, really: reading or watching TV or visiting WP.
Seems boring from the outside, I suppose, but it helps keep me on balance.
