Even though she doesn't actually have the condition, there is evidence that Usagi may be on the autism spectrum:

She often doesn't act her age.
She's socially awkward.
She's gluttonous all the time.
She's always hypocritical.
She's gullible
She's lazy and objects to schoolwork like maths.
She lacks intelligence for the most part.
She daydreams all the time especially if it involves Tuxedo Mask and his identity, Mamoru.

Maybe Sailor Mercury also has it. She's a loner and a genius.

One really cannot diagnose a cartoon character. Because cartoon characters are only drawings, after all.

However, there are cartoon characters who might exhibit at least some of the symptoms of any sort of disorder.

It's possible that Usagi and Ami could have autistic traits, but as of right now, from what I can see, I am not sure if they could actually be autistic. This is just from my perspective.

Great.
Let's rename the condition "Sailor Moon Syndrome".

So if people are diagnosing characters from books as being on the spectrum (eg. plenty of articles out there saying Charles Wallace and possibly Meg from A Wrinkle in Time are probably on the spectrum), why not cartoons?

Is it just because there is significantly less character development in cartoons?

I don't know. I think people may not like it because it seems like every character in books or cartoons has ASD and they are sick of hearing that made up characters have their disorder. That's just my guess! :D

ANIMATED CHARACTERS CAN NOT HAVE ASPERGER'S SYNDROME!!

They are fictional. They exist only as images of imaginary people. If they display any "symptoms", then it is because either their creators intend them to act that way, or the animators are not skillful enough to portray them realistically as neurotypical people.

Please, please, please, learn the difference between fantasy and reality!

Sailor Moon Aka Usagi probably doesn't have Aspergers. One reason because the show came out during a time when Aspergers wasn't really well known. Another reason is that the many things you listed would be more like a stereotypical Ditzy character than one with Aspergers.

Mercury Aka Ami I think wouldn't have it as well because she doesn't really have any troubles with socializing besides just being shy. I see Ami as more of an introvert than a loner cause she still wants friends and be around people just that she doesn't want to be around them a lot.

And like Fnord said, they're anime characters so really the only portrayal you will get is from whoever designed the character POV and what the creator intended.

How is it that you seem to think that "lacking intelligence for the most part" and "being a genius" are both aspie traits?
