I talked a bit more with my talk therapist today about Autism spectrum. How she explained it to me is that I have very obvious Aspergian "traits" but in her opinion it's not severe enough to be ever diagnosable. But my bipolar certainly is a disability I have to contend with. I'll talk more with my doc about it too, I see her again Friday.

Sigh it's hard to be neurologically complex...

Is she qualified to make such a judgement?

Talk therapist. Don't know if she can really say that.

If she has a doctorate, she can make a diagnosis. If not, she can't.

Being legally qualified and actually knowledgeable enough are two different things. Only a small minority of degreed psychotherapists are knowledgeable about adult ASD.

It's a bit more than just a doctorate. If it weren't, then I'd be qualified to diagnose people, which, as you can probably guess, I am not.

Angnix, how do you feel about your therapist telling you that?
