I find that the noise canceling headphones make a big difference when I’m overwhelmed with noise.

That is great to hear! I get by with earplugs. I have a high fidelity set for going to the movies.

You can get some great in ear noise canceling headphones for pretty cheap (less than 100). I bought some taotronics ones for ~$40 on Amazon and I'm not sure how they compare (the sound quality isn't so great but that isn't the main concern here. You will need to buy comply isolation tips for full comfort and isolation but they're only ~$10.

I also have Bose QC 35ii and the Bose 25ii, both are basically the same as far as cancelation goes. What's great is putting the taotronics in ear headphones on and putting the bose on top. It cancels out everything. You won't even know someone is trying to talk to you with this combination.

Here's a great chart with the isolation levels for a wide variety of headphones. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tests ... ive-active

I probably should have chosen an in ear headphone from this chart but I bought mine before finding this.
