Incandescent lights alternative

Hey guys and gals--

Wanted to put this out there. Lots of us use incandescent bulbs because of sensory problems. I do. I got worried that they would go obsolete so I restored an Aladdin mantle lamp--as powerful as 40 watts, white light, perfectly silent, smells cool in an old-house sort of way, and works great.

What are your alternative lighting solutions?

I am using low power LEDs. 40W equivalents instead of the normal 60W equivalents. I'l also put half the number of bulbs in a light fixture. I also watch the color temperature.

Low power LEDs work for me. I go for localised lighting, rarely put on the big lights in the room, just have some table lamps in strategic places... lovely calming pools of light.

Low-power LED lighting.

When you consider that most of the energy used to light an incandescent lamp is used to heat the filament enough to make it glow, switching to LED lamps makes a lot of sense

Drastically inefficient. You’re paying mostly for light you can’t see — IR and UV.

But the spectrum is continuus. I pay for my comfort.

I use two lamps for the living room. A 6W LED in a fixture to bounce it off the white ceiling. And a 4W spot LED for reading or doing my nails.
