You're ok, we had your hearing tested

I condensed this for the title, but growing up I often heard

"There's nothing wrong with you. We've had your hearing tested."

There was a BBC drama about a boy with autism and his parents said that a few times through out the first episode.

That freaked me out and I didn't watch anymore of the episodes.

So, I'm not the only one.

Did anyone else hear anything similar growing up.

I have had my hearing tested on many occasions. Of course I had alot of ear infections as well. They were the reason given to my mother for my delayed speech. My oldest son had his hearing tested several times as well when his speech was delayed. He did not have many ear infections at all. He was finally diagnosed with ASD at the age of eight. Now we have a reason for some of his non-responsiveness.

Went through teenage years to my 20's with blocked ear. Burst eardrum when I was about 6 or 7 due to frost. Due to this, my difficulty in hearing I assumed was due to these issues.
Took a job on the railway in 1998, where the blocked war came back. Hate blocked ear. Very claustrophobic. Cant hear more then one person talking at a time. Passed hearing test. Got job. They could tell I had burst eardrup when young. Ironically, I believe it was the non blocked ear. They said my hearing was fine.Answer to prayers.
Was around the last time I remember having a blocked ear. Horrible feeling!

Noticed more recently before Christmas and at drs surgery (Came as a shock as never thought about it, but looking back I had it in the past as well where I rsally upset someone then back in 2007..) but more recently before Christmas... I upset someone. I was coming out of a partial shutdown. Hearing works well, but could not fathom out what the prrson was saying. Shutdowns feel horrible. Want to be alone with no fuss lying down to recover. Was being told something by work collegue. He said "Do you understand" as I had to ask a few times to have it repeated. Needed to recover without the communication so I said "Yes" to make him go away. Then I did the thing he told me not to do. Took me a long time to fathom out why I had been in his bad books! I heard the words clearly and my memory to recall what he said worked fine. Just at the time of the shutdown, brain was not able to understand... As if he was speaking another language! A bit like how the parents talk on the old kids TV cartoon called "The Perishers" or was it "Snoopy" as they looked the same to me.

So I assumed past hearing issues were due to a continual blocked ear issue which ocdasionally changed sides but fortunately never both ears at the same time as I would have exploded inside my head.... So it may have hid the brain not computing issue when I had partial shutdowns, but I hate talking when having one of them anyway!

Hence do not, get regional center, service
