I hate wearing shorts for sensory reasons but I’m also sensitive to the heat. So I only wear shorts if it’s over 85 degrees Fahrenheit. And even then not always.

When I first saw the title to your thread I thought it said, "I Hate Shots." I thought to myself, that's not very unusual! OOPS!

How about skirts, then? Or just pants made of very light material?

I am the opposite. I hate pants. I don't like feeling them sticking to my legs.

To look at this more from a social trends angle, when I was growing up (which is a good while ago now), males would wear short pants at primary school (ages 4-11), then transition to long trousers some time during their first year at secondary school (11-18), though some did so straightaway. It was pretty much unheard of to see males over the age of 12 wearing shorts in public.

This convention, along with many others, began to break down in the 1970s, and now one sees men, even in very late middle age, out and about in shorts, especially at this time of year. But even in the 1980s, I remember a guy from the generation before mine commenting disapprovingly that it was 'poor form' for people to be on the golf course wearing shorts. I personally find it difficult to adapt to changing trends, and still view the world much as it was in the sixties, and thus even now find it a bit absurd to see adults wearing shorts in public.

Long, loose skirt is even better than shorts for heat.

It's amazing the difference only a couple generations can make. :D

And the cool thing, pun intended, is that now, men can actually sometimes get away with wearing them even in the western world.

Too right! 'Transitioning' now appears to refer to something very different.....

Have you tried boyfriend jean shorts that aren't so form fitting?

What about capris...they are between shorts and pants. I mean some go all the way down to right above the ankle and some are shorter and just go a bit past the knee.

I hate anything that doesn't cover at least half of my calf. I get the same stimulation as seeing someone attractive, but worse. Far worse.
