New Year’s Day traditions (easy ones )
Every year for past many years ..... have simple individual New Years tradition . Pleasing to the senses .
Used to be as simple as playing a copy of a video , with holiday spirit , black & white oldie “Holiday Inn”
Then found it hard to find my disc but had noticed my tendency to Get ahold of some very fine chocolate bar generally high cocoa content . 50 - 88 % cocoa , and a cup of finest coffee could afford to buy . These two always made me feel better about how the coming year might be . Had not even realized I was doing it for myself .
But I would always prepare weeks in advance . Almost unconciously , primarily cause I use chocolate to help me sleep at night . and good quality coffee cause so much of my life was spent over coffee with my very best friends or people , was associated with . So these two items together tasted very good to me together and had normally good associations ... if you have any New Years traditions that you might care to share , be a drive out in the country or a something simple as calling up friends to tell them happy new year , or a New Years drink , Even ones you may or may not be aware of ,, but yet you can find yourself repeating it each year . ?

Gosh, nearly-bitter, fair-trade chocolate is my only source of caffeine, about 15 grams after breakfast. As for New Year traditions, I have none specific to the day, except that I start planning for the best weather to remove my seasonal camouflage. This year is amazing - no cold hands expected at either end. I used to glue it together with water. This was the first year that I didn't stay up to watch all the numbers change at midnight, and maybe add a few whoops or bangs to audible celebrations. About this time, the newspaper runs a re-cap of the year, and I usually skim that. It is a good time to break my archives into sections, and extract stats such as my four miles per day average on the bicycle.

My every New Year celebrations are mostly not merciful to the easily overwhelmed.
Polka dots attires, jumping and hoping by the last seconds... Not that I need the last one.
Luckily, this year's polka dots give away attire gave me an idea of what comfortable clothing materials may feel like for me.
Severe noise making -- not for the hearing intolerant by any means -- vehicle horns honking, turning music up to 11, more horns but for family friendly version and maybe hearing gunshots.
Tossing rice and coins by the hall, bathing coins in rice...
MEAAAAT AND DRINKS!! ! AND CHOCOLATE. AND JUST STUFFING MYSELF IN GENERAL.
And unlicenced fireworks that can cause yearly deaths and injuries
It only lessens due to stricter bans and economy going funny with the prices.

The only thing I do pretty much every year for the holidays is work. My work isn't terribly difficult, mostly I'm just here to be awake and have good clinical judgement at 3am (anybody can do the first with caffeine etc. but it's surprising how many can't do the second.) So my main holiday tradition for all of them is to try and get double time. Thanksgiving is every year, as my schedule is Wed-Sat night shift, and we're right in the middle of Christmas and New Year's being in my schedule so I've even got another couple years of double time.
