I feel like I can't think for myself anymore. I have no concentration to speak of, except to write a short post on here. It's like a fog has descended into my brain.

Could it be something to do with the replacement of so many facets of our lives by the internet? Fifteen or twenty years ago, I could still read a novel, or write a long letter, but these days I settle for watching stuff on YouTube or posting on forums. I can still read a one or two page magazine article, but that's about my limit these days.

I don't think that's it. In addition to autism I also have psychosis.

I get something like this frustratingly often, in my case it's a sign of partial shutdown.

The very fact that you fear you’re “losing your intelligence” might actually mean the very opposite.

Maybe you’re actually gaining in intelligence and insight.

I’ve seen this sort of thing before.

I have Asperger's and schizophrenia . If my intelligence is declining I'd blame it more on age than either of those two things.

Brain fog is a common phenomenon, not just for people with autism, but for anyone who has suffered sleep deprivation.

Depending on time scale, it could be due to an illness; a check up might be worthwhile.

When I told counselor Jeanne Courtney that I was (am) getting stupider she asked why

Wtf?

You are always getting smarter, the same or stupider

You could do activities to try to make yourself smarter

Play chess

But graceful degradation

Everything you could do is competing with nature

It may also be due to more stress in your life. This is very common among Aspies who have to live in the NT world.

Awareness and intelligence are two different things.

Can you expand on this....? Because I've been going through this, as well.....!
I ALSO have some psychosis, likely caused by extreme OCD.

I think it's probably my medication.

I'm not an Aspie living in an NT world. I'm classic autistic with substantial supports.
