Unless it works INSIDE buildings I'm still screwed...I have a terrible sense of direction and frequently get lost inside malls, stores, office buildings etc.

Yes, I have a very poor sense of direction - interestingly, I read somewhere that it often goes along with face-blindness. Google Maps is one of my favorite apps.

No i returned to read it, in case anyone needs any help.
Well i am afraid i can't help people with directions inside buildings.
however, most the time especially when in public there usually is someone
to give directions, if you approach them and ask them politely.
Most people are helpful enough.

As for google maps. hey, you never know, in the near future someone will
make some augmented glasses, that superimpose google maps and directions over your
glasses and your view of the world.

I know for a fact that in China, they are already have tech being used that superimposes
face recognition over the wearers views, which are used by police and customs officers
to identify wanted criminals.

Not saying i agree with it, just saying that it is possible. So in future, you may get help.
Be like being robocop or something.... as long as the glasses don't start bleeping "20 seconds to comply"
reminds me of an old hip hop track... by silver bullet.... sample from Robocop i believe.

Is this an aspie thing? I had no idea?
I've never had a good sense of direction which is also why I almost NEVER go anywhere myself. I don't even like google maps.
I , also , get lost in simple places like malls and the only place I walk in my neighborhood is around the elementary school where I can just go in circles.

If out by myself I'll only walk in a very small area near my flat. I am debating whether to get a smartphone , but when I used one of my granddaughter's smartphones I looked at google maps and couldn't work out how to use it.

It's really difficult for me to use google maps, as well.
One thing that helps me out a bit is the little button you choose so it shows you which direction you should be walking in to get to your destination.

In the practical sense this only applies to me if I elope because I otherwise only go out with 1:1 staff supervision.

I don't have a lot of trouble with getting lost for the most part, like I am ok at finding my way around. Of course I did get lost in the woods once...I was staying out with family in minnesota and went on what I intended to be just a short walk. But I lost my way and couldn't figure out the way back.

At first I panicked some, even yelled out to see if anyone could hear me...but it was a dense forest area so no one could hear me. So after a bit I just figured I'd have to find my own way out, I also had ended up in a swampy area and there can be sinking mud in minnesota so that was concerning because if I got stuck out there I may have been done for. So I kept to the clumps of plants near trees to stay out of the swamp mud till I was on more stable ground. Then I was trying to figure which way to go and noticed there was a river nearby. I knew a lot of roads cross rivers so I figured if I followed the river I would get to a road at some point.

So I did get to a road and was amazed how far away I had gotten from my starting point but I could kind of recognize where I was so I started walking back towards where I was staying. Then my uncle in law was driving by and gave me a ride back. But that is really the only time I got lost to the extent that I was worried about perhaps not making it back.
