Do you ever get the “voice” from teachers, therapists, doctors, or first responders?

Do you mean the “Voice of Authority” when they think you’ve done something wrong, or do you mean that smarmy, condescending, sing-song voice when they think you have a child-like mind and must be placated like a child?

I’ve heard both.

Sometimes I used to get the sing-song voice, or get spoken to with exaggerated slowness. Now that my hair is silver it no longer happens - people probably view my deficits as being due to age.

I've occasionally heard both also. Very annoying. Not too often, fortunately -- at least not since childhood, when I heard them a lot.
