I adore Julia from Sesame Street. I saw an ad yesterday (collaborated on with Autism Speaks, which makes me mad, but is beside the point of this thread) in which Julia used her talker, which I thought was so cool because I’ve never seen an autistic character who used AAC on TV before. It makes me super happy, because I use AAC a lot, sometimes I write on my boogie board, and sometimes I use my text to speech app on my iPad, just like Julia.

They should portray this sort of thing more on TV.

I too loved Julia from sesame st, she is the only female autistic character I can remember seeing on TV

They really should, it would go a long way towards reducing the stigma associated with nonverbal methods of communication.
