I wonder, is having Asperger's more likely to preserve curiosity?

Are you constantly curious, retaining the same attributes as a child in this respect? Do you have a constant need to find answers and try new experiences?

I'm curious about everything. Even people, although it used to be more around 'inanimate' things and processes.

This is not always helpful , of course.

Do you guys have a 'curiosity issue'?
If so, how do you manage it, or even maximise its potential?

Or does this attribute in fact have no relationship to Asperger's...?

My wife is forever curious and even nosy. She's almost 71 years old.

I've always been curious about anything I see throughout my day. Now that google exists it has been wonderful for me. On any given day, the random things I ask google are all over the map. For example...last night I saw geese flying while I was walking after dark..as soon as I get back I had to google 'why do geese fly at night'. I need to know!

The Polish equivalent of the saying about curiosity that killed the cat is :"A curios dog fell into a well. He was sitting in it for three days and found out nothing." So it has a much more negative overtone than the English saying, according to which, although curiosity did kill the cat, its satisfaction brought it back, after all.

Hmmm, so I guess the answer to my last question, thus far, is looking more like a 'yes' then

That Aspergers is unique to each person seems the more likely conclusion, and attributes like curiosity have no real link to it.

This does of course open the problem of finding commonality with fellow 'aspies'. With shared attributes it is easier to connect, except in the case of Asperger's most established shared attributes (i.e lack of empathy and poor social skills) are actually barriers to connection.

I was hoping positive stuff like intelligence, curiosity, analytical thinking etc were integral to the condition. Nice to be wrong for a change :P

Our language has many cool cat idioms, too :D My favorite one are "to get a cat" - to get crazy, "to turn the cat with its tail" - to twist things, to humbug, "to run like a cat with a bladder" - to run/ walk around impatiently and nervously and "as much as a cat cried out" - a little, almost nothing. :D

It seems to be kind of an aspie trait to me to write unrelated responses instead of starting new forum topics. Most threads here are used for discussing unrelated stuff.

Oh Come on.....we're still talking about Curiosity.

Go right ahead.....write something unrelated when I start a thread (I hardly ever start threads). We can have some fun :)

I believe it depends on the person. If a person feels "set in his/her ways," the person is probably less curious than one who seeks to learn.

This applies both to people on the autism spectrum and neurotypical people.

By the way: people with a sense of humor tend to be more curious and want to learn more than people who lack a sense of humor.

It's not at all special to aspies but may be that aspies care about more uncommon things then other people.

I don't thing that it affects relationships except you are spying your partner or stop to care about your partner because of your interests in other things.
