I dedicate this thread to exploring the idea - what it would imply, how could it be verified or falsified?

Please, refrain from saying "it's right" or "it's wrong" - just explore what it would mean if it was true.

The model:

Primary autism: lack of / insufficient / altered "social synchronization"
Comorbids: any other issues the person has, sensory, mental, physical, social, etc.
Concept: In existence of primary autism, manifestation of some of the comorbids gets altered, resulting in more prominent "autism symptoms".

Just an idea to explore.
The first thing I thought was - it would explain the enormous heterogeneity of the autism spectrum and elusiveness of the "autism gene" - the primary autism may be caused by several different mechanisms on molecular level.
But how could it be scientifically verified or falsified?
