I had my assessment appointment this morning. It was ok. The dr seemed to feel that he had a lot of information about me already which may make it clearer to diagnose, and so instead of needing 3 appointments, I only needed to attend this one. He said that it was slightly complicated by some childhood abuse I suffered, but he seemed to indicate that he thought I was autistic. He said he will send his draft report to me within the next two weeks, or perhaps earlier and then I will be invited to a further appointment to discuss the findings and what to do next. I feel very mixed up about it all. I need to see it written down to try to start processing properly I think.

Thanks to everyone here who has offered me support and advice in the last years whilst I got to this point.

Do you have an approximate wait time for your assessment Mountain Goat?

One and a half to two years.. They did say that I needed to be assessed urgently, but they are not allowed to because they do not know how urgent the other peoples cases are.

It’s such a long time. Mine was 14 months after triage appointment- did you have a triage appointment? Or was your last contact with GP?

Last contact with the GP... Though, I went i to an open drop in day (Once a month) just because I was in a bit of a state at the time.
I don't know what a triarge is. I don't think they do triarge. They did say the assessment will be spread over three days.

I find it confusing that there are so many different routes to diagnosis. Even in my own county, there seem to be differences.

Triage is a kind of pre assessment. In my case I was referred to the local adult Asperger’s service and then a month or so later attended an appointment with a junior psychologist (or was it trainee? I can’t quite remember), who went through the various questionnaires I’d completed and asked a lot more background questions. It took about an hour and a half.

I am not sure. Unless this bit is the first part of the actual assessment?
