I think that we can sometimes doubt ourselves in this confusing world and feel that our decisions don't measure up to others? I think that having Asperger's causes me to often over analyze conversations I've had with others and decisions I make on the job. However, I believe we are just as intelligent as anybody else. Now, as with many on the spectrum, I am not the best at reading people.

There are subjects with which we are unfamiliar due to a lack of capability, lack of time, or lack of interest. Discussion of these subjects with which we are unfamiliar may leave us feeling "behind the curve".

There are social currents the speed of which is difficult to engage if we operate with intent and analysis rather than the more speedy reflexive banter. Getting "left behind" can also make one feel peripheral.

There are many reasons to feel outside a group such as too tall, short, fat, skinny, old, young, unattractive, poor, or even too smart. One can even be intentionally snubbed or rejected. However, one should be careful not to over value the opinion of others.

There will always be someone smarter or dumber than you. This sort of comparison is rather pointless. It might be more profitable to seek out people with whom you can have an interaction in which you are valued for who you are. Those who are blind to your positive qualities are not worth associating with.

The answer to that question is subconscious

Strangers on the internet can't access your subconscious

You can't access your subconscious

Nobody can, not even psychologist

Some precious lil "people" are totally full of themselves

They grossly overestimate their intelligence

Based on your post it sounds like, (to me) you underestimate your intelligence

You either overestimate (bakers dozen), underestimate ("the price is right" TV show) or correct

So whatever

I often feel incompetent /stupid . I tend to give more credence to the negative side of my spiky cognitive profile.

There are a lot of people out there much more stupid than we are, trust me.

Thanks to social media I'm quite aware of this.

For example, there was a woman who posted that she was pregnant and afraid to bathe or shower because she thought her unborn baby would drown. In fact she hadn't bathed for several months, and couldn't understand why her husband didn't want to go near her anymore.

I'm really hoping for the baby's sake that stupidity skips a generation.

When I was in school, there was a one person on My class who thought that he could cut trees in a half with samurai swords.
