When you see a doctor, be it a GP or pdoc, and they tell you to let your arms go floppy (as they test something) do you find that difficult to do ?

For me it's like my brain struggles to transmit the message to my arms . It was the same when I did a guided imagery relaxation class quite a long time ago and they told us to gradually relax our neck, head arms and legs etc .

I don't know how to relax a muscle.

My legs never relax. The foot doctor and surgeon kept saying, let them relax! I was not consciously holding them in any position. That was just where they went when not doing anything. I'm a little better with my arms.

I am basically a wet noodle at all times, so relaxing usually is my normal state.

I tense up all the time when they tell me to relax which they probably find frustrating.

I was just at the Doctor recently and had this exact same issue. I was close to yelling "I AM TRYING!!" but decided to just continue to try to 'relax' to the Dr's satisfaction and I somehow did.
