I believe that they exist, if that's what you mean, but I put no faith in the tradition of waiting until New Year's Day to make changes in one's life.

Besides, the real New Year event occurred on January 04, 2020 at at 23:48 with the advent of perihelion.

The calendar year can be a good way to remember a new way of living, and the change of year can be a timely reminder to evaluate one's life, so they do have better odds of being significant in both quality and quantity.

Fifty years ago, I was at a New Year's party, and remembered about resolutions at 11:50. I had always wondered how somebody could sit down to a plate with potatoes, peas, and a blank space, so I decided to try a vegetarian diet. It's been great. An equally beneficial and effective resolution to stop smoking had two encouraging factors come together at another time of year. Once a resolution has been made, do not even imagine it changing. That wouldn't be "you." (the new version)
