I'm going swimming with my cousins aged 5 and 7, I know the swimming pool is notoriously noisy and I don't know how to deal with this. I have sleep earplugs and wondered if anyone had tried to use anything like this in the swimming pool, I don't expect them to stay in under water and I'm sure I can keep them near enough discreetly hidden under my hair. Any suggestions from others would be great, thank you.

Lots of people wear the silicone earplugs you buy in the drugstore when they go swimming. You don't even need to be discrete, some people's ears bother them if they are set all the time, so it shouldn't stand out much.

Just make sure you put then in well before you get wet, or they won't work as well.

Have fun!

Definitely go with silicone. They even come in pretty colors. They also seal your ears so water does not get in them. Many lap swimmers in particular use them. Whatever you do, don't ear foam as they will absorb water.

The noise and the smell of chlorine don't worry me at all. I love going into pools and I like swimming.

The strangest hypersensitivity I have in swimming pools are swimwear. Since it is in the conformity and in unwritten law that you have to swim in shorts, as it happens I don't like being in the pool with shorts on. The pools I go, I am allowed to swim with my tracksuit pants on instead, I like having my legs covered up while I'm in the pool.

I find it relaxing being in the pool with my pants on, I seem to like the heavier material the best. This works like a weight blanket and I rarely go in the deep end, I can swim well just wearing pants. I like wearing grey tracksuit pants since it doesn't fade from the chlorine, I seem to like writing or strips the best. My favourites also is polyester Adidas tracksuit pants.

Once the pandemic is over, I am wanting make videos about that for my YouTube channel.

I've been wearing earplugs whenever swimming ever since I was a little kid because back then I loved to swim but would get a lot of ear infections. My mother used to also make me wear a swim cap to keep the plugs in. I was the only kid who wore one while swimming and was kind of embarrassing. But wearing ear plugs is fine. I wear them now without a swim cap because they they stay in underwater. They're *supposed* to stay in so you can swim underwater in the first place. But they have to be earplugs deigned for swimming and not those foam plugs that just keep out noise.
