My Walmart just told me when I called them today that they now have a new thing where on Tuesday mornings from 6-7 am they only allow the elderly and disabled to shop. No one else is allowed in. So when I need to go there, that is when I will go. Check with your local Walmart to see if they are doing that same program.

They have also turned their music down at my store. I don't know if my incessant complaining had anything to do with that but either way, I am glad for it.

They are also doing ship to home but I have to see if the shipping is free.

You’re making me feel homesick for fabric shopping in Walmart and spending time in your beautiful country!

The main supermarket in my town is ASDA, which is owned by Walmart. They open at 8.00 am at the moment, and give priority for the first hour to vulnerable people and key workers (NHS, etc). I think people can still enter the store if they don't qualify on those criteria, but they are clearly expected to leave it till later if at all possible.

There's usually a 30-40 minute queue to get in for most of the day, but if you turn up in the final hour (9.00 pm - 10.00 pm), then you can usually walk straight in, as it's very quiet by then.

Awww, You got that right about fabric shopping at Walmart. They definitely have the best prices hands down. Unfortunately the sewing section is barren. I was able to get the last four spools of thread at the Walmart across town. I hope that flannel and fat quarters come back since that is what I like to use the most.

That is really good as well. We should post all the stores that are doing things like that that make shopping easier for us. A lot of stores here are also only letting a few people in at a time so the lines (queues) to get in are very long. A couple of weeks ago I explained to the person in charge of the line at Walmart that I am severely Autistic and cannot stand outside near a parking lot because if someone comes with a stereo blasting I will have a big meltdown and I can physically collapse. He was also Autistic but he does not have sensory processing disorder. But he understood my issue so he had them let me cut the line and come in. JoAnn Fabric told me that they would also allow me to cut the line since they only let in 7 people at at time. But I would have to call ahead and explain to them. At first they tried to tell me that it would not be fair to the other people waiting in line but I explained to them that I would be happy to wait in line if I physically could. But that is not an option for me and even though I often shop online and they also offer curbside, sometimes I actually want to see what I am buying before I buy it especially with things like fabric. Once I explained to JoAnn Fabric what could happen to me if you make me stand outside at a strip mall for a long time, they definitely agreed to allow me to cut the line.

I'm really glad they're finally starting to be considerate of our needs. I've had two meltdowns over the past two days because of overwhelm and sensory issues, and it makes things a lot easier when others understand and accommodate our needs.

That is being done around here. Besides being hesitant about going in any store I am doubly hesitant about going that hour as I fear it will be crowded. I have found my local CVS is pretty empty between 4 and 6PM. I am greatly minimizing going to stores.

I’ve been ordering from WallyWorld’s website. Shipping is free on orders over $35.00

Even though the bus stops directly in front of my apartment complex (before it hits UPMC Hospital), the hours for that bus got reduced to 6:00 am to 8:00AM and 3:00PM to 5:00PM, with no weekend service.

Several stores do that where I live. From one website:

Lighting is reduced by 50 per cent and the music is turned off during the events. Sounds from grocery scanners are also turned off and the public address system is not used. Staff are encouraged to speak softly and do not gather grocery carts.

Shipping is free for orders over $35, at least here. I see someone already posted this. Haven't been able to get to any of the early opening hours because I'm not really that awake at this hour, so no idea if they keep the store quieter, but that would be nice.

I haven't been to Walmart since the quarantine began, I've been going to smaller stores closer to me but I'm so glad to hear that they are being more accommodating, that's great to hear :)

Here in PA, it’s 60 years or older or disability. Check with your local store.
