Looking at mild vs. strong facial expressions
One of the reasons I dislike looking at people's faces is my dislike of facial expressions, especially when they change a lot or seem excessive (like a huge grin instead of just a smile). I find facial expressions over-stimulating and distracting, and the excessive ones are cringey, like biting down on metal.
So I find people who don't have many facial expressions to be soothing and pleasant to look at as well as physically attractive. It's such a nice change to be able to look at someone's face and not get that sharp, uncomfortable feeling of seeing "too much" all at once. To be able to stand to watch their face change and perhaps process what they might be feeling is a nice change.
I want to know if other people feel this way and whether you've watched the movie Ad Astra (or another movie with a similarly non-expressive character that stood out). I was attracted to this movie partially because Brad Pitt has very understated facial expressions that don't change rapidly or often, and I found it nice to watch someone's facial expressions for once.
I find facial expressions equally just as good and just as bad.
If anything, I'm rather negligent about it -- though I'm also aware that my culture is a highly expressive.
I'd say OP wouldn't want to be here.
And I just happened to focus more on tone of voice than facial expressions or body language overall.
