In Kindergarten I couldn't sit "criss-cross applesauce", but not because of inflexibility. My joints are actually way too flexible(?) so it makes them dislocate very easily.

I have always been able to sit cross-legged, but need a wall to keep from slouching. Like muscle strength, flexibility can be improved by regular effort. I never saw the point in special stretching exercises beyond what feels good and necessary naturally, but now I find it helps to keep places like the bottom of my car accessible. I'm considering putting a bar across a passage in my house that I have to climb over or under to regain some flex. As I age, it gets harder to maintain every physical ability.

I've had very tight hamstrings all my life, and it always showed whenever I had to do the sit and reach in gym class. In 8th grade my gym teacher called me out on it in front of like, 10 peers.

If they're too stiff don't roll them so tightly.

But seriously, I've never been able to sit cross-legged.

Me too, I can’t even get my legs completely on the floor without assistance, the gym teacher kept telling me to put my legs down flat but I couldn’t. For “criss-cross applesauce,” I can do it fairly readily, but I’ve always kept my knees higher than most other people do.

Yet at the same time, I can reach over my shoulder with one hand and up from my lower back with the other and clasp my hands together and typically sit with my legs double-crossed, my knees pulled up to my chest, or some other funky position.

I have food intolerances which cause joint pain.
If I don't eat the offending material, I am fine.

Years ago, the doctor thought I had rheumatism. :lmao:
I had to work it out myself. :?

I've been having this problem with my left knee for the past 20 years. I'm currently losing weight to remedy the problem. I started last week.

Weight loss, if you are overweight, helps with so many things.

I have stiff joints, but I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I had hip dysplasia on both sides (and other hip issues) and had multiple surgeries growing up. I was actually very flexible (too flexible), but now, I fairly stiff, but not terrible.

I would like Raspberry 8)

I have symptomatic osteoarthritis in my right knee, asymptomatic in my left knee.

I’ve always been pretty stiff overall.

My hamstrings have always been very inflexible, though I’ve nevee had issues sitting cross-legged. Never had issues with stiff joints.
