I wonder if anybody knows about some type of retreat / vacation for adults with Asperger's syndrome?

I have tried to search online but I have not really been able to find anything.

I am 44 years old, male, and I was diagnosed 1.5 years ago. I live in Northern Europe so if it is far away, I would hope it would have a duration of more than a few days. But I would be willing to travel all over the world. I think the current global COVID-19 situation may give some limitations, but I would also be interested in something I could attend at a later time.

I have been in the local Asperger's community and I really like being together with others with Asperger's syndrome. When I am together with NTs, I normally fell like I am on the outside of the group. But when I am with other people with Asperger's syndrome, I fell like I belong and that I can be myself. Since I also get lonely very easily, I think it would be great way for me to spend vacation time together with other people with Asperger's syndrome.

I think it would be optimal if there are also some NTs with great social skills to help us being together and to make sure that everybody are well :-) In my experience if three are only autistic people present, things can sometimes get a bit too rigid.

I think that "Asperger's" is too wide a net. I'd look for a group of nerds with a common interest, and a significant percentage of AS. I take my vacations by bicycle - it is amazing how interesting places nearby are when visited slowly.

thank you foT your idea.

I really would like to find something focused on autistic people and on being together. Sharing how we experience the world would also be a great topic :-)

It is an online event this year thanks to pandemic, but next years autscape would, one hopes, be an in person event again, a three day residential event hiring a conference centre or boarding school

I don’t know about Aspergers specifically but I do know that special needs vacations exist.

Try searching “adult autism vacations”

Thanks for the idea. I have tried to make searches like that. There seems to be vacations for families, for children, and for people that need special support. But I am adult, I don't have a family and I don't really need special support.

What I really want is to meet other adults like myself..
